What to do if you have an accident

1. Take Photographs of the Accident Scene.
The camera never lies, so photograph road layouts, drivers view on approach, road signs and road markings, position of vehicles etc.

2. Take Photographs of Damage to Vehicles
Make sure you also photograph damage to vehicles, skid marks and registration plates – you can even show the scale of damage or size of skid marks by including the tape measure provided. (The Police can calculate vehicle speed by the length of skid marks).

3. Record Other Drivers Details
Using the easy to follow Third Party Driver Form complete as much information as possible about the other driver(s) involved. If the driver is not the owner of the vehicle, you will need to obtain the owners name and address as well.

4. Provide Your Details to Other Driver(s)
Be prepared! Each Kit contains 3 Pink tear-out slips on which you can write your details in advance, so that even if you are a little shaky you can simply tear out and hand over.

5. Look for Witnesses
Witnesses are often willing to provide information that will support your claim. Simply ask witnesses for their details and record on the Independent Witness Report Form Provided. Note: If a Police Officer attends the scene, record his/her name, number station and tel. Number.

6. Sketch the Accident Scene
No need to worry about poorly drawn sketches, simply use one of the nine pre-drawn road layouts supplied to mark the positions of all vehicles involved.
